Band Backdrop Sizes for Real Stages
A gig backdrop is not a shop sign. You are sizing for stage presence, artwork scale, and how the fabric travels, rather than for viewing distance from a footpath.
Backdrops vs Regular Banners
Business banners are about visibility and message distance: how far away someone first needs to read your headline.
Band backdrops are about what sits behind the performance: stage width, how many people are on stage, how the logo reads on camera, and whether the fabric folds into the van after the gig.

Pub and Club Stages vs Larger Venues
Club n’ Pub (2,000 × 1,500 mm) is the 2026 Hot Sheet club-stage size. Mates Rates start from $362 on Supa-Tuff. If you want every phone photo from the room to look like your gig, this is the easier first purchase: enough cloth to read as your band, without jumping to a festival-width backdrop.
Laneway II is marked most popular for acts stepping up to a wider look. Festivals and larger rooms need more width and height so the band name still reads from the back of the room. Send a venue photo if you are between named sizes.
- Duo or small combo on a pub or club stage: Club n’ Pub is the usual named-size start
- Full band on a pub stage: measure the rear opening; compare to Laneway or Laneway II
- Bigger rooms: Music Fest, Music Fest II, Headliner, or Awesome sizes on the Hot Sheet
- Custom width and height always available beyond the named sizes

Supa-Tuff vs Blockout
Supa-Tuff is strong, easy, good value, and versatile: the usual starting point for most bands. Blockout is luxurious, durable, and 100% opaque: useful for outdoor use or stages with lights behind the backdrop.
Woven fabrics are standard across the backdrop range.
- They are tough, practical, easy to live with, and suited to touring.
- They fold down small for transport and storage.
- They hang nicely and look good once in place.
- They look strong under lights.
- They suit ongoing use and indoor or outdoor applications.
- Woven fabrics are standard.
- Double stitched hems are standard.
- Reinforced nickel eyelets are standard.
Touring, Folding, and One-Panel Backdrops
Woven backdrops are made to pack down small and survive repeated setup. That matters more than squeezing the last dollar out of a rigid material that will not fold cleanly.

Artwork at Backdrop Scale
Good artwork makes a big difference. The same file rules apply whether you are on Club n’ Pub or Headliner size.
- Good artwork makes a big difference on a backdrop.
- Artwork that looks fine on a phone screen may not scale to a large backdrop.
- Vector artwork is preferred because it scales cleanly.
- High-resolution raster images can also work.
- As a guide, raster images should be around 100–150 DPI at full print size.
- CMYK is ideal, but not a deal breaker.
- If you are unsure, send me what you have and I'll tell you what can be done.
- You can send ideas, images, or hand-drawn art.
When to Ask Me
First backdrop? Send your logo and a photo of the stage with rough measurements. I'll suggest a practical named size before you commit.
- Frame width and height in millimetres, or a named Hot Sheet size if you know it
- Fabric choice: Supa-Tuff or Blockout
- How it mounts: eyelets, pole loops, truss, or frame
- Gig date if timing matters
- Pairing with amp scrims or a kick drum cover prototype? Quote together for consistent artwork
